Libel By Instagram?

In this blog I've been chronicling defamation, privacy and other claims involving social media, including Facebook and Twitter.

Now, the Digital Media Law Project reports on a defamation suit over a post on Instragram.

The suit stems from a post by rapper The Game - nee Jayceon Terrell Taylor -- of photos of his childrens' former babysitter, Karen Monroe, along with comments such as "Beware if this person is watching your children, she is a very dangerous baby sitter."

Can Instagram, which is primarily a site for posting photos, be the basis for a libel suit? I don't see why not. And, since the posts at issue in this case were clearly of Ms. Monroe, she will have an easy time showing that the postings were "of and concerning" her.
